FAQs
Tastings, kids, dogs, shipping and the club
The questions we answer most. If yours is not here, call (503) 555-0172 or write to hello@tallowcreekcellars.com.
Visiting
Do I need a reservation for a tasting?
No, walk-ins are welcome most days. A reservation holds a window for you, and it is a good idea on Saturdays, for six or more and for every cellar tour. Book on the Tastings page, or call (503) 555-0172.
What does a tasting cost?
The Estate flight is $25 per person, the Reserve flight is $40 and the cellar tour with a Reserve flight is $55. The fee is paid at the tasting room, never on this website, and it is waived when you take home two bottles (four for the tour).
Are kids welcome?
Yes, on the lawn and the patio, with an adult, until 4 pm. Only guests 21 and older may taste, and the adult who brought them is responsible for them at all times. We have water and non-alcoholic cider for them.
Are dogs welcome?
Leashed dogs are welcome on the patio and the lawn, with a water bowl. They cannot come inside the tasting room, because of the health code. Service animals are welcome everywhere.
What ID do you accept?
We serve only guests 21 and older, and we check ID at the door, even if you look much older. We accept a driver’s license, a state ID card, a passport or a military ID. A photo of an ID on a phone will not do.
Do you do tours?
Yes, seventy-five minutes on Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30 and 2:30. You see the crush pad, the tanks and the barrel room, taste from a barrel and finish with a Reserve flight. It is $55, and it is waived with four bottles. Book ahead on the Tastings page.
What if I have had too much to taste?
We pour small amounts, and the spit buckets are on the bar. If you would rather not drive, we will call a ride for you, and you can pick up your bottles another day.
Food
Do you serve food?
We have no kitchen, but we put out a cheese and charcuterie board for $22 every day we are open, and there is a pizza truck by the patio on Saturdays from noon to 4. See Events for the schedule.
Can I bring my own food?
You may bring a picnic to the lawn. Please do not bring outside food to the tasting bar or into the barrel room. Food from the pizza truck can go to any table.
Events
Can I book a private event or a wedding?
Yes. The Barrel Room seats 60 for dinner, and the lawn holds 120 for a wedding between May and October. A site fee starts at $1,800 on a weekday, and a $500 deposit holds your date. Send the form on the Private events page, and Dana will reply within one business day.
Can we bring our own wine to an event?
No. All wine and other alcohol at an event is ours, and our license does not allow guests to bring their own. You can bring your own caterer or choose one from our list.
Club
Do you have a wine club?
Yes, the Tallow Club. Pick a Duo, Quartet or Half case, three releases a year, with 20% off every bottle and a flight for your party when you visit. It renews each year until you cancel, with no minimum.
How do I skip a release or cancel?
To skip a release, call or write two weeks before it is charged. To cancel, use the link in any club email, or call or write. There is no cancellation fee, and you are never charged for a release you skipped.
Buying
Do you ship?
Club shipments and phone or email orders ship from the cellar to Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Colorado and New York, for a flat $14 a box. An adult 21 or older has to sign, and we cannot ship anywhere else. We do not take orders on this website.
Where can I buy your wines near me?
About thirty restaurants and shops between Portland and McMinnville pour or sell the Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. The Reserve and Library wines are sold only here. Call or write and Dana will send you the closest names.
What’s pouring
What is pouring right now?
The Wines page lists every wine we are pouring, with its price and alcohol by volume, and the date it was last updated. The Reserve Pinot Noir is released on November 21.
Gift cards
How do gift cards work?
Buy one on the Gift cards page. We email it to you or to the person you choose, and they show the code when they pay. It works for tastings, tours, events and bottles, and for booking a time online.
Do gift cards expire?
No, ours never expire and carry no fees. The person using the card must be 21 or older to taste or buy wine.
